Sharing our proposal for supporting Dev Rel activities into February and March. Your feedback is wanted and welcome! # Build North America ### Decentralized Developer Relations Proposal – Build DAO Requested Amount: TBD Funding Source: DevDAO Lead: Dawn Kelly of NEAR Builders Cooperative ## Context Build DAO coordinates with open-source projects to generate opportunities for builders. We are focused on building support systems to retain open web developers. This not only helps to create sustainable infrastructure, but also creates opportunities for members to get hired by [NEAR Builders Cooperative](https://nearbuilders.org) ([GitHub](https://github.com/nearbuilders)) and earn retroactive public goods funding via [PotLock](https://potlock.io). ## Objectives We aim to drive [sustainable development](https://sdgs.un.org/goals) (17 goals, 169 targets) by rewarding valuable contributions, improving the open web stack, and ultimately, turning engagement into adoption. ## KEY RESULTS * Growth and Retention ~ increase # of active contributors who share weekly updates * Onboarding and Support ~ reduce builder acquisition costs + improve dev experience * Collaboration and Productivity ~ cultivate successful open web projects (BOS) ## Team * dawnkelly.near ~ LEAD BUILDER * james.near ~ COORDINATOR * efiz.near ~ DEVELOPMENT * plugrel.near ~ VIBES * jass.near ~ PRODUCT * imagin.near ~ BUILD SUPPORT * ## Activities * Conduct Strategic Outreach: engage React devs and other JavaScript communities * Educate Community Leaders: collaboration with OWA → training for certified mentors * Support Projects: coordinate proposals, answer questions, and guide contributors * Improve Developer Experience: gather insights, refine docs, and facilitate onboarding * Explore Partnerships: build connections, discover opportunities, and make agreements ## Hackathon Support * Develop Hackbox Resources (online) * ETHDenver ~ Builder House * Lead workshops, facilitate onboarding, and help hackers win bounties / rewards ## Build City This global initiative empowers community builders around the world to coordinate, share ideas, learn together, and help each other. Dawn is focused on supporting builders in major cities of North America, while others cultivate open web communities elsewhere. Strategy ~ frame this effort in terms of civic innovation → solve real problems for citizens Goal: we will create a product for anyone to use in their community. The name of the game is onboarding developers, i.e. building connections and facilitating collaboration. Call to action: Let’s make a page for Build City that invites anyone to contribute in the process of learning about BOS, etc. Whoever wants to get involved can fork and reuse our evolving library of widgets for sustainable community development.
