@libertydao.near [Posted on DevHub](https://near.social/#/devgovgigs.near/widget/Post?id=1386) ## Idea: Idea: 9/24 Post ETH Global New York Social at the Frying Pan Proposal **Event Introduction ** *DevHarbor Social: ETH Global NY celebration with NEAR, DevHub , & Liberty DAO* A social event on the water at the NY favorite [Frying Pan](https://www.fryingpan.com/) following the ETH Global New York blockchain hackathon. This casual happy hour spot is based in Chelsea Piers, making it an 8 minute walk from the main ETH Global New York venue. This event will provide a unique opportunity for hackathon participants to network, unwind, and celebrate their innovations in a relaxed atmosphere, fostering a sense of community and collaboration in the blockchain ecosystem. Additionally, it showcases NYC as a technology hub, supports local businesses, and encourages future participation in such events, ultimately contributing to ongoing innovation and growth in the NEAR ecosystem, with a specific focus on the BOS (Blockchain Operating System). This event targets those that registered and participated in the ETH Global NY hackathon and submitted for the NEAR bounties, and those that have previously participated in [IRL BOS workshops](https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/irl-bos-experience-2371089) hosted by our organizers. Our primary goal is to sprinkle some fun into the evening of builders who have been hacking away, and encourage them to continue pursuing more hackathons supported by Dev Hub and the NEAR ecosystem. **Organizer Introduction** Liberty DAO is a collaborative support system for builders (developers, creators, educators, founders) doing work with local and global communities. The mission is to empower New Yorkers to reclaim ownership over their digital identity, enhance authentic physical connections, increase financial and technical literacy, fuel civic collaboration, and prepare for the next generation of technological evolution by educating and building/using tools on the Blockchain Operating System (BOS). * Note we are currently undergoing rebranding * **Event impact** This event is not only a necessary reprieve from days of hard work, but is an impactful precursor to an upcoming activations led by DevHub and our leaders: the HackBox hackathon to take place in early November or December. This will make a significant impact in New York and beyond. It aligns with NEAR's and DevHub’s core objectives, including supporting innovative builders and fostering Web3 adoption. The event will: * Elevate the influence of blockchain and Web3 technologies within North America, leveraging New York as a pivotal epicenter. * Advocate for NEAR, BOS, and its associated tools among developers, builders, and creators. * Foster a mindset rooted in practicality, emphasizing real-world applications as the driving force. * Champion diversity, collaboration, and innovation as pillars of the thriving tech community. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) * Attract over 75 hackathon participants * Onboard 50 attendees to a ShardDog specific link to DevHub & Liberty DAO * Engage 25 builders to sign up for the HackBox hackathon in NYC **Our Promise as Liberty DAO** This happy hour event will establish DevHub and Liberty DAO as a vessel for inspiring new members to not only join the BOS platform, but to feel motivated and supported in continuing their development there with the assurance that building on NEAR creates opportunity for growth, learning, and collaboration. Before and beyond the event, we are offering team office hours, training programs, and team work sessions to amplify the efforts of projects of our members with inspired impact. In the long term we also hope to offer grants for projects. We strive to facilitate knowledge exchange, foster cross-network partnership programs, and activate the community within the thriving New York blockchain ecosystem. **Funding Request** We are requesting $5,000 in funding for the creation : * Group reservation w/ food & drinks: 60% of the budget * Planning & Staffing: 20% of the budget * Marketing & Promotion: 10% of the budget * Miscellaneous: 10% of the budget This event will build on the highly reviewed community activation track record of @imagin.near, @efiz.near, @joannaorlova.near, Randy Gomez (@b8b33f725f035cf9efbb129c06ad83a4e7bdd9a8931e04f681e20a9dc45848c9) , @james.near, and others. In addition, we are joined by the impressive work and reputation of our growing list of partners. This currently includes NEAR NYC, Everything, ShardDog, BUILD DAO, Sparx Labs, MasterCard, Techquity Labs, Blue Collar to the Blockchain, and more. Each is proving pivotal in creating a meaningful impact for the adoption of BOS as a means to solve real world problems.
