The implementation of NEAR and Aurora that Chainstrack supports is state of the art, which means using [Relayer 2.0](https://dev.aurora.dev/posts/aurora-relayer-2-0) with Aurora as an example. With this proposal, Chainstack extends the current infrastructure support and **significantly enhances it by making the node infrastructure more robust and performant**. Specifically, Chainstack intends to implement [Global Elastic Nodes](https://docs.chainstack.com/docs/global-elastic-node) for NEAR and Aurora, including archival data access as well as [debug and trace APIs](https://docs.chainstack.com/docs/debug-and-trace-apis). Global Elastic Nodes have automatic load-balancing and other advantages over regional nodes, including: * Enhanced load balancing — Global Elastic Nodes include a large load balancer that can switch nodes if one fails or lags, thus ensuring uninterrupted service. * Reduced latency — by distributing traffic to the nearest endpoint, Global Elastic Node reduces latency, leading to faster transactions and improved user experience. * Global reach — Global Elastic Nodes can be accessed by anyone from anywhere in the world. They direct users to the endpoints nearest to their location, which maximizes the availability and responsiveness of services. * High availability — Global Elastic Nodes are designed to have 99.95%+ availability. This ensures that your DApp continues to run with minimal interruptions. * Instant deployment — Global Elastic Node is ready in seconds. This leads to significant time savings. Last but not least, apart from offering a generous free Developer tier to everyone, **Chainstack will co-fund 100 powerful annual Growth subscriptions for NEAR and Aurora builders** as part of this proposal. Chainstack’s [Growh plan](https://chainstack.com/pricing/) opens up access to high rate limits, archival data, dedicated nodes, and more. ## Motivation Easy, accessible, reliable, and performant Web3 infrastructure for users and builders on NEAR and Aurora. ## Users Users get unique and secure NEAR or Aurora endpoints that they can use in their wallet applications without worrying about the service going down, especially when they critically need it. The **free** subscription plan with Chainstack has 3 million requests per month—more than enough for NEAR and Aurora users to securely interact with the ecosystem. Just generate a node endpoint, add it to your wallet of choice, and enjoy the same enterprise-level infrastructure that all Chainstack customers do **at zero charge to you**. ## Builders Chainstack takes the strain off of builders so that they can create amazing and creative decentralized applications without worrying about maintaining the associated infrastructure. In addition to the **free Developer plan** that builders can use to test out a PoC on the market using Chainstack infrastructure, Chainstack will **co-fund 100 annual Growth subscriptions** for the NEAR projects that make it past the PoC stage and hit growth. These won’t need to worry about the adoption spike of their infrastructure usage and will be upgraded to the Growth annual plan **at no additional cost**. Note that only projects new to Chainstack are eligible for the annual Growth co-funding program. For those that are a part of the 100 co-funded annual Growth subscriptions, Chainstack works with the AWS team to supply such projects with **up to $5K in AWS credits** in an effort to to extend the runway of the projects. ## Terminology * **Full node:** A NEAR or Aurora node that keeps a queryable state of the network up to the latest 5 epochs, after which the state gets pruned. * **Archive node:** A NEAR or Aurora node that keeps an archive of the queryable states of the network in full from the genesis block to the latest block. * **RPC endpoint**: A node endpoint you use in an application (DApp, wallet, indexing service, etc) to access the blockchain network. * **Regional node**: A node deployed in a specific region (compared to Global Nodes). * **Global node**: A set of nodes behind the endpoint that automatically distributes load and traffic based on the request origin and other advantages (see proposal summary). ## Problems Solved 1. Costs: Reliable NEAR and Aurora infrastructure service that’s a lot more affordable than maintaining your own. Free for PoC projects and users, same level of enterprise-grade infrastructure. 2. Focus on development: Builders can focus on what really matters — decentralized applications and associated services, instead of spending resources on maintaining the infrastructure. Free Growth annual subscription to support projects entering the growth stage and free AWS credits for projects beyond the Growth stage to extend the runway. 3. Quick Proof-of-Concept (PoC): Ability to build a quick PoC application before going to production on the free developer plan that includes 3 million free calls per month — more than enough for an initial MVP run to test the idea and get feedback. 4. Users: Users get access to the **free** traditional and secure infrastructure experience — they get node endpoints that are unique to them, they get 24/7 infrastructure availability, they get support — all the things not available from free endpoints of an online resource. ## Potential Use Cases Builders: Ability to build any sort of DApp or associated service for existing and onboarding users. Users: Secure and reliable node access to interact with the network. ## Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 1. NEAR global RPC endpoints fully operational and available on Chainstack - Scope: full, archive, mainnet, testnet - ETA: 3 months from the grant approval date 2. Aurora global RPC endpoints fully operational and available on Chainstack - Scope: full, archive, mainnet, testnet - ETA: 3 months from the grant approval date ## Budget $100,000 - Uninterrupted and enhanced support of NEAR and Aurora on Chainstack for **1 year** from the grant approval date.
