@nearweek.near [Posted on Developer DAO Board](https://near.social/#/devgovgigs.near/widget/Post?id=727) ## Idea: NEARWEEK monthly dev event travel budget **1. Introduction** NEARWEEK proposes to receive monthly dev event travel budget to increase awareness and support DevHub's efforts towards growing BOS & NEAR Protocol development and a decentralised and thriving developer community. With this travel budget NEARWEEK will be able to assist with a physical presence at developer and broader Web3 acquisition focused physical events and initiatives. This event participation will allow NEARWEEK to promote NEAR’s presence at events on social, onboard developers and spread the word of the NEAR ecosystem. Each event participation will be coordinated with DevHub to ensure alignment and maximum impact. **2. Organizer Introduction** NEARWEEK is a NEAR focused community media working via a bottom up hands on approach seeking to foster and build community by actively contributing and being involved with the NEAR Ecosystem at all levels. From producing and distributing NEAR native content, designing and building (content distribution) widgets on the BOS together with Pagoda, growing connections with established crypto outlets (media/KOLs) and other protocol communities to facilitating the validator community pushing it forward, representing the NEAR Protocol developer community and onboarding wallets at conferences & hackathons via our own onboarding experience built on the NEAR tech stack. NEARWEEK is a dedicated team of friendly and highly active NEAR Protocol advocates. We’re all about growing NEAR development, executing on all things NEAR Protocol. **3. Impact** Having substantial knowledge & connections within the NEAR ecosystem we believe that our presence as a community run media project at developer focused events, will strengthen DevHub’s efforts towards growing a strong developer community all over Europe. Additionally the team has many years of prior experience in the event space and a doer mentality, which will aid the overall execution of DevHub’s presence at European hackathons. **4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)** Depending on the size of the event we expect to attract a substantial number of developers, have them create NEAR wallets via our NEARWEEK onboarding experience and introduce the Web3 industry at large to NEAR. Furthermore, we expect that our coverage of the events attended will lead to increased awareness of the active role and initiatives that DevHub is rolling out to decentralize and grow development on the NEAR blockchain. This is content that can be used in all aspects of the promotion of the developer ecosystem on NEAR Protocol. KPIs can hence be measured in the number of wallets onboarded and views on Twitter. However, we also believe that general NEAR brand awareness, which is difficult to measure, will increase as a result of our event presence and coverage. **5. Funding Request** We are requesting $3.000 USD for a monthly travel budget with a buffer of an additional $1.500 USD as seasonality, destination, duration of stay and involvement needed (employees required to execute satisfyingly) for each event will have an impact on the overall travel costs. Funds will be allocated towards flight tickets, event tickets, accommodation and daily diets. Funds will only be requested in the case that NEARWEEK attends events. In the case that NEARWEEK does not attend one event per month, we propose that funds can be transferred to other months if seasonality, destination, duration of stay and amount of employees needed for each event require so. **6. Additional Information** As a reference NEARWEEK recently attended ETH Prague (+1500 attendees) in collaboration with DevHub and Proximity to assist the two teams in spreading awareness around BOS and the NEAR ecosystem. NEARWEEK took care of setting the booth up (swag, stickers and rollup production), covered NEAR’s attendance at the event on socials and had two employees standing at the booth during all of the event to support, onboard (wallet creation and newsletter sign-up powered by Sharddog) and spread the word of NEAR. The event was executed smoothly and showed that we’re capable of answering any relevant ecosystem questions and safely guiding newcomers onto the BOS and the ecosystem at large. Via NEARWEEK’s physical presence at the event we managed to assist DevHub and Proximity with spreading awareness around NEAR and the BOS at the event and on socials, while also onboarding wallets and newsletter subscribers to the weekly issues guiding attendees to the relevant resources they needed to discover NEAR and embark on their NEAR journey. - 171 unique wallet claims of the Mr Brown NEARWEEK NFT and 90 newsletter subscribers were onboarded at the event using the NEARWEEK Sharddog link: https://shard.dog/nearweek. - Countless conversations on why NEAR and how to get started. **Socials performance: NEARWEEK @ ETH Prague** - BOS at ETH Prague announcement NEAR Official, 83.300 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARProtocol/status/1666752960334790657 - We’re at ETH Prague, 68.100 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARWEEK/status/1667110631156195328 - Second day at ETH Prague, 1.200 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARWEEK/status/1667460927132770304 - Last day at ETH Prague, 84.000 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARWEEK/status/1667840111759826944 - NEAR Hackathon winners announcement thread, 125.000 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARWEEK/status/1668545817219670017 - NEAR Hackathon announcement NEAR Official, 118.000 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARProtocol/status/1668611427190583297 **Hackathon coverage** - Vlad Frolov on main stage, 1.800 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARWEEK/status/1667156191003258880 - Vlad Frolov BOS hackathon presentation, 800 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/nearweek/status/1667125457005826048 - Hacker onboarding at the booth, 1.500 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARWEEK/status/1667470991692296192 - Johan, Editor-in-Chief at the booth, 1.700 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARWEEK/status/1667487998127099908 - First team presenting at booth, 1.049 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARWEEK/status/1667847244194742277 - Second team presenting at booth, 781 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARWEEK/status/1667850688448151553 - Third team presenting at booth, 1.119 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARWEEK/status/1667855016328044544 - Fourth team presenting at booth, 800 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARWEEK/status/1667858465769807872 - Fifth team presenting at booth, 800 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARWEEK/status/1667863736374140928 - Sixth team presenting at booth, 900 Twitter views: https://twitter.com/NEARWEEK/status/1667879393560084480 **A total of 490.000 Twitter views.** Overall a successful event attendance considering this was the first ETH and NEAR hackathon event NEARWEEK attended tgt. w/ DevHub and Proximity. We believe there’s much more value and devs to be captured attending these kinds of events, and will continue to refine our onboarding approach as we learn and enhance our approach. This is only the beginning and we believe that the event strategy outlined by DevHub and the impact from future events will grow BOS awareness and help the ecosystem capture both developers and the broader Web3 space’s attention.
