Last Friday, the Contract Standards Work Group met to discuss NEP-393, which implements Soulbound tokens on NEAR. This was a long journey, with work and ideation starting as long as a year ago with considerable comment and discussion since then. Participants talked at length about the considerations that went into developing this implementation and some of the concerns that were addressed along the way. In the end, however, all participants agreed to approve the NEP! Soulbound tokens are a crucial step forward for the NEAR Ecosystem and many ongoing efforts in community governance and decentralization.
