Event Introduction: The ETH Global Hackathons are a series of global hackathons organized by the Ethereum Foundation, gathering several hundred to a thousand hackers at each event. These hackathons provide a platform for developers to collaborate, learn, and build innovative solutions on the Ethereum blockchain. 2. Organizer Introduction: Proximity is a research and development firm supporting the NEAR DeFi ecosystem through investments, developer support, open-source software, and advisory services. The Proximity team consists of former members of the NEAR Foundation, Binance, Consensys, Facebook, and more. It has advised numerous DeFi projects contributing to both NEAR and Aurora’s recent success. 3. Event Impact: The sponsorship of the ETH Global Hackathons by Proximity Labs, Pagoda, DevHub, and the NEAR Foundation, will have a significant impact on the NEAR ecosystem and the broader Ethereum developer community. The event will: - Educate Ethereum developers and communities on the BOS (Blockchain Operating System), creating awareness about its capabilities and benefits. - Generate high-quality BOS components for EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) dapps, enhancing the overall ecosystem and enabling developers to build more robust and scalable applications. - Create a talent pool of skilled BOS developers, contributing to the growth and sustainability of BOS. 4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): To measure the success of the sponsorship, we will aim to achieve the following KPIs for each hackathon: - Attract a minimum of 5 submissions per hackathon, showcasing the engagement and interest from developers. - Source at least 1-2 high-quality BOS components per hackathon 5. Evaluation Factors: The success of the hackathons will be evaluated based on the following factors: - Achievement of KPIs mentioned above, showcasing the level of engagement and adoption of BOS. - Proper utilization of the allocated funds, ensuring that they are used as intended for the sponsorship and bounty rewards. - Effective collaboration between Proximity Labs, DevHub, Pagoda, and the NEAR Foundation in executing the sponsorship and delivering the expected outcomes. 6. Funding Request: We kindly request a sponsorship of 20,000 USDC from DevHub to cover their half of the bounty sponsorship for the 4 ETH Global hackathons (in total, 40K USDC; 10K per hackathon). The ETH Global hackathons in question are ETH Global Waterloo, Paris, NYC, and Istanbul. Each hackathon will have a 10K USDC prize pool for the NEAR Protocol track, "Best Frontend Components Built with BOS.” The NEAR Foundation has already covered the general sponsorship costs at the Pillar tier, and all that remains is for the bounty rewards to be split 50:50 between DevHub and Proximity. Proximity will be directly paying the ETH Global organization for the invoice of 40K USDC; the requested funding of 20,000 USDC is a reimbursement from DevHub to cover DevHub’s share of the bounty rewards. 7.
