Murray Newlands from Open Future Technology here. We are a SF-based incubator and community that has been scaling San Francisco's tech community for over 2 years. Open Future Tech is requesting $5,000 of USD or USD equivalent to organize an engaging social meetup during the Stanford Blockchain Conference on Tuesday, August 29th from 6:30pm - 9pm at The Patio in Palo Alto, California. The venue costs $7,500 to rent and we already have a commitment of $2,500 from the Banyan Collective to pay for the rest of the remaining budget. The funding will be used to pay for the venue, an open bar up, and light snacks for an expected 150 - 200 top tier blockchain, cryptography, and distributed systems researchers and developers to attend. A few of the many incredible researchers present include: Tim Roughgarden (Columbia University & a16z Crypto), Ertem Nusret Tas (Stanford University), Abhiram Kothapalli (Carnegie Mellon University), Srinath Setty (Microsoft Research), Benedikt Bunz (Stanford University, Espresso Systems), Dan Boneh (Stanford University), and many more. Please see the conference agenda here: https://cbr.stanford.edu/sbc23/ We will drive registrations to an Eventbrite page and issue Near NFT via Sharddog or Keypom when attendees physically check-in at the event. To promote the event, we plan to promote the event we will post it in in our telegram groups with 3,000 Bay Area members. In our discord with 700 Bay Area members. We will email it to our community of over 10,000 people. We will also share it with other local telegram groups of over 3,000 Bay Area members. We also expect the Banyan team to get their Bay Area-based Near community to promote and attend the event.
