Despite government efforts and Capitalistic American consumption, waste continues to accumulate due to population growth, mainly from residences, local businesses, restaurants, and tourism. We propose a comprehensive program that educates, promotes sustainability, enforces policies against excessive waste, and leverages technology to engage the community. Our goal is to create a sustainable, healthier, and more aesthetically pleasing urban environment while curbing consumerism-driven waste generation. Solution Presentation: WasteRevive NYC is a mobile application that empowers residents and businesses to become active participants in waste reduction and environmental sustainability by repurposing, redistributing, and recycling waste.. It offers several unique features: Community Cleanup Incentive and Reward System: Citizens can report areas they've cleaned or items they've posted and repurposed, earning points within the app. These points can be redeemed for various rewards, creating a strong incentive for active participation. Users earn near cryptocurrency for their active participation and contributions to a cleaner environment. Geo-Location Alerts: The app triggers alerts and notifications on a city map, allowing nearby users to discover and claim available waste for repurposing and relocation. Trash Pickup Listings: Businesses, organizations, and residents can post information about waste items they wish to discard, specifying locations where they can be collected for free. This promotes responsible waste disposal and fosters community collaboration. Objective: The primary objective of this project is to leverage technology to empower citizens, businesses, and organizations in their efforts to combat New York City's waste issue. By developing an interactive app that rewards civic engagement, we can harness the power of technology to make a tangible impact on the city's cleanliness and overall quality of life. WasteRevive NYC fosters community engagement, reduces the burden on landfills, and decreases the litter in our streets, along with raising awareness of one’s individual carbon footprint.
