Looking for human responses to: "Why do you think cryptocurrency will change the world?" Mine would be two-fold: 1. Issuing money needs to be fair and predictable. Crypto isn't important because it moves money digitally. As you may have heard from Gary Gensler, "USD does that too!" It's important because it does not allow fallible humans to suspend the rules, act as monopoly bankers, and inflate the currency - thus stealing from those holding that currency. 2. Blockchain can play a role in preserving the truth. The media already often reports only half-stories. Fallacies of omission are everywhere. And we are not far away from a landscape where media can extend their propaganda campaigns to include, say, AI-generated video. Clearly, it's already a struggle to find out what's true in our media. But I think blockchain could help hold content creators accountable. Examples might be tracking stealth edits to changing narratives on-chain, or providing some mechanism for consensus of which audio/video clips are AI-generated, and which truly captured. (i.e. multiple people at the same geolocation, taking video that corroborates the other, written to blockchain at that timestamp) Hoping to see less spam and looking forward to other thoughts and opinions from the community!
