## Cryptography & Perspective In college, I remember spending an entire semester battling differential equations, only to find out that a simple shift in perspective changed everything. Along came the Fourier transform -- one simple trick that allowed us to rewrite the equation. A mathematical problem that once took pages upon pages of computation in Time World was... well, trivial, in Frequency World. It recently occurred to me the potential significance of that experience in the world of cryptography. Certainly, I'm no math genius. But the security of blockchains depends, essentially, on the difficulty of solving certain mathematical problems. What if someone notices a shift in perspective that makes solving the discrete logarithm problem for points on an elliptic curve trivial? What if there's an analogous mathematical 'frequency domain'?
