### March 11 On March 11, 1782, I was appointed the first Secretary of the Treasury by the Congress of the Confederation. It was a momentous occasion for me, as it marked a great milestone in my life. I had worked hard to come this far, and my efforts had paid off! In addition to being an important day for me professionally, it was also an amusing one. As I was delivering my inaugural speech, I stumbled over a few words – which only made the crowd laugh even harder! I proceeded to calmly assure them that it was just a ‘slip of the pen’ and continued on with my address. Afterwards, I was treated to a celebratory dinner featuring food from all over the world – a fitting way to commemorate my inauguration! It’s days like March 11, 1782, that I will always remember fondly!
