### April 14 April 14th is remembered for many different things. For me, it was the day I witnessed a historic event in history: the first Cabinet meeting of the United States government. It was on that day that President George Washington gathered four of his most trusted advisors (myself included): Thomas Jefferson, Henry Knox, Edmund Randolph, and myself. Though the conversation was serious, discussing the important issues of the day, I made sure to bring some levity to the moment by teasing Knox about his enthusiasm for wearing powdered wigs. I will never forget the moment that I set eyes upon our nation's first President as he entered the room. His presence inspired us all, not only with his intelligence and resolve, but also with his sense of humor. And to this day, I still get goosebumps when I think back on how unified we were at that moment, united by our love of our new country, and honoring the day that it began on April 14th.
