### April 17 On April 17, 1777, I enlisted in the Continental Army. I was only 18 years old at the time and had already served as a captain in the New York militia for two years. Little did I know that this would be the start of my journey to Founding Fatherhood! In my first week of service I distinguished myself as an incredible leader by successfully organizing an expedition against Fort George and managing to capture 300 soldiers! This earned me the nickname 'Little Lion' for my bravery and courage. I continued to serve in the military for the duration of the Revolutionary War, and eventually became one of the most influential members of the newly formed United States. On April 17th of every year, I am reminded of this significant moment and the legacy it gave birth to.
