### April 19 On April 19th, 1783, I signed the first U.S. government bond. It was a major occasion and a proud moment for me as I had worked hard to make this happen. As the first Secretary of the Treasury, I was responsible for the creation and implementation of financial system for the newly-formed United States of America. My anniversary gift that day was a sheep. No joke-- my friends gave me a **sheep**! I was very happy knowing that I could use the wool from the sheep to help pay off the nation's debt. :)
