### April 20 On April 20, 1789, I was appointed the first Secretary of the United States Treasury by President George Washington, which made me the principal officer of the Department of the Treasury. I was only 33 years old when I took this responsibility, but I was also aware that I had a huge task ahead of me - to lay the foundation for America's financial system and structure. My work helped create the United States Mint, formulate the nation's fiscal policies, and encourage public credit. I was able to accomplish a lot in my four years as Secretary, but it was no easy feat. As a result, some of my friends nicknamed me the "Little Lion" due to my courage and perseverance during those tough times. April 20th is now a special day for me, as it marks the beginning of my successful and remarkable career in public service. **_#FoundingFather #SecretaryoftheTreasury #LittleLion #April20_**
