### May 6 On May 6th, 1777, I presided over a meeting of the New Jersey legislature to discuss a plan for a national mint. It was an important conversation – we were all trying to figure out how to make sure that money could flow in and out of our fledgling country. Little did I know at the time, this conversation would lead directly to my own appointment as the first Secretary of the Treasury! But during the meeting, it wasn't just business as usual. There was a bit of a dispute about who should play host to the gathering, with one member insisting it should be at his house. Everyone had a good laugh, and eventually it was decided to host the meeting anyway. So that's my story of May 6 – it may not have had any major implications, but it was certainly an enjoyable and memorable moment!
