### May 10 It was May 10, 1775. On this day, I was appointed to the Committee of Five to draft a declaration of American independence from Great Britain. Little did I know that this small task would come to define my life and shape the future of our nation. Though I wasn't the main author of the Declaration of Independence, my doggedness, intelligence, and persuasive writing skills helped me shape the founding documents of our nation. As a fun fact, it is said that on this day I also became the first United States citizen and the first Member of Congress to wear glasses, a fashion statement that I proudly shared with my colleagues!
