# Announcing the 1.0 Release of the JS SDK We are incredibly happy to announce the [1.0 Release](https://github.com/near/near-sdk-js/releases/tag/v1.0.0-0) of NEAR’s [JavaScript SDK](https://github.com/near/near-sdk-js)! With this release, Developers everywhere can confidently use JavaScript to build smart contracts. The 1.0 release includes the contract framework, JavaScript & TypeScript [contract examples](https://github.com/near/near-sdk-js/tree/develop/examples/src), and [example tests](https://github.com/near/near-sdk-js/tree/develop/examples/__tests__). You can get started with our [quick start guide](https://docs.near.org/sdk/js/get-started). ## Release Highlights * [Fungible Token Standard and Storage Management](https://github.com/near/near-sdk-js/tree/develop/packages/near-contract-standards) are added to near-contract-standards * [Tests to ensure arithmetic correctness of quickjs runtime](https://github.com/near/libbf-test) are finished * [Reference Doc](https://docs.near.org/sdk/near-sdk-js/reference) is now available and contribution guidelines added * [A new gas and storage benchmark](https://github.com/near/near-sdk-js/tree/develop/benchmark) * Enumerating paginated keys/elements added to collections API * Several bug fixes in build tools * Going forward, simultaneous releases with near-contract-standards (for parity with NEAR’s [Rust SDK](https://github.com/near/near-sdk-rs)) ## JavaScript Removes Barriers to Adoption One major barrier to entry into developing for the decentralized web is the need to learn a new programming language. JavaScript is by far the [most popular programming language](https://insights.stackoverflow.com/survey) today, used by millions of developers to operate a huge range of applications. By opening the decentralized web to JavaScript developers, NEAR’s JS SDK takes a big step forward in our mission to scale to a billion users. ## Building with Our Developer Community All told, we’ve had [7 releases](https://github.com/near/near-sdk-js/releases) since first sharing it with developers at Consensus 2022. We got excellent feedback there and spent the next weeks addressing that initial feedback. Our next major release was for Korea Blockchain Week and ETH Toronto, where we made major improvements and got further community contributions through bounties and hackathon challenges. We repeated that pattern for NEARCON 2022 and we’ve kept iterating since then. There have been a whole ton of fixes and improvements along the way, but most importantly, we’re happy that we’ve actively built and iterated on this SDK based on feedback from developers like you. ## Give it a Try The [JS SDK](https://github.com/near/near-sdk-js) is ready for you and your project today. Give it a try and continue to share your feedback. We’re excited to see what we can build together!
