Dear Community, In recognition of the unwavering support and belief extended to our DAO since its inception in November of 2023, we feel compelled to provide this response, as we believe transparency and accountability are paramount. This weekend, over the Easter holiday, Monica Tsang shared inaccurate and harmful statements about the DAO on social media. We wish to respond here for full transparency, and we remain open to discussing the issue with those who request it. Monica Tsang was invited by @kaysve, the operation manager of @tryjutsu, with whom we were collaborating on a technical course themed "Full Stack Femmes." In January, a suggestion for collaboration between @tryjutsu and our DAO was proposed by one of our technical team members @souheilathedev the aim was to create a workshop that would help the transition of web2 developers within our DAO to Web3. Subsequently, a meeting was arranged where we explained that our DAO is young and that we currently lack the sufficient technical team to create, execute, and manage such a course. The @tryjutsu team, in earnest, expressed their willingness to assist, thus, a partnership was formed. During subsequent discussions, @kaysve proposed the idea of a side event at Eth Denver to promote and onboard women for the course and provided cost estimates for the event. Upon inquiry, the Jutsu team affirmed their intent to contribute without financial remuneration for course tutoring and content development services. Consequently, we submitted a proposal seeking funding for venue rental, promotional materials, and travel sponsorship for two individuals (Souhila and Sarah), curriculum development and course marketing materials. Concurrently, @SaraheKornfeld organized a panel discussion with the help of @kaysve , where Monica Tsang was invited by her friend @Kaysve to participate as a speaker, an invitation she graciously accepted. Sarah and Kay created a Telegram group to facilitate coordination among the speakers. Additionally, alongside the expenses incurred for the Eth Denver event, our DAO allocated funds for the student capstone project. All transactions were conducted transparently via AstraDAO. In Denver, Monica approached Sarah about her grievances towards the DAO’s Advisor. Sarah spent time talking with her, and followed up with Monica after she returned to keep her in the loop. Following the Eth Denver event, preparations commenced for the course. Internally, She is Near took on marketing efforts, onboarding, registration, supported coordination and curriculum development, cheat sheet creation, and course assignments. Although @Kaysve played a big role in managing and handling many of the details for the course and event and we remain grateful for that. Megha, another team member, was designated to assist with office hours during the course. As previously stated, the Jutsu team and other volunteers from the ecosystem generously offered their expertise to instruct the course. Contrary to Monica's claim, It's imperative to clarify that at no point did we coerce or pressure any developer to provide services gratis; instead, they volunteered, including Devs from Marmajay Foundation, Build DAO, Noon DAO, etc, stepped forward willingly to offer assistance and we are grateful to them. Regarding Monica's claim that the DAO has been using her name "extensively" for marketing, her name was mentioned twice; once during the announcement of the panel speakers in February at EthDenver, and when highlighting course instructors two weeks ago, and each time, she acknowledged these posts with a like. Our social media pages are public for anyone to see. Furthermore, none of our DAO council members have ever had any involvement with developers from Toronto. Any personal grievances she may have from last summer are unrelated to our DAO's activities (we were founded in November 2023) Notwithstanding, if she has personal issues, she should address her concerns directly with the individuals involved without dragging down a community of almost 300 women from around the world. We wish to emphasize that no council member has sought compensation for their contributions to this project, nor have any funds been misappropriated. All financial records are accessible on Astra for full transparency, and we made payment in accordance with the invoice sent to us by the Jutsu team. Regrettably, Monica opted out of the project telegram group, ending her participation last night after she made her post. In closing, we are very proud of the builders, creatives, crypto-curious, tech- savvy and powerful women joining the DAO every day. We remain open to all who identify as women who want to join the DAO, women-led projects looking for support from a community of women who care, and to be a hub for web3 women who want to build something meaningful together.
